Queen of Gods: Slot Overview
Queen of Gods is an Egyptian themed online slot from provider Pragmatic Play which appears to be based on the ever-popular ruler, Cleopatra. Fun fact! Cleopatra lived closer in time to the Moon landing than to the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Anyway, according to certain sources, Cleopatra was considered a goddess, as was the tradition back then of blurring the lines between divinity and royalty. Her full name was Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator, or Cleopatra The Father-Loving Goddess. She was one of the most well-known rulers of Ancient Egypt, and players have a number of Cleopatra themed slots to pick from. Some may be asking why they would want to pick Queen of Gods by the end of the review, as it isn't a heavy-duty Egypt slot by many measures. What it has is full stack wilds and modest multipliers in free spins, leading to a modest max win even when all cylinders are firing.
It's hard to avoid using the word generic to describe Queen of Gods' appearance. It has a pleasantly bright, almost physical machine look, but it also looks like any number of other Egyptian themed slots, too. In the middle of the screen rests an active game area, between Anubis style jackal-headed statues, patterned columns, and beaming rays of gold light up top. Trigger free spins, which was not a challenging task to accomplish during our test sessions, and you'll be transported into a new location full of coins. The soundtrack is equally off the shelf, so on the whole, Queen of Gods looks and sounds quite nice without presenting much that enthusiasts won't be familiar with. Perhaps that's the point.

Frequent and small appears to be the thinking behind Queen of Gods' math model, which fired off free spins at a markedly higher rate than usual. Important statistical considerations include volatility rated 4 out of 5 by the studio and RTPs ranging from a maximum value of 96.38% down to 94.32%. Stakes can be set as low as 10 p/c or as high as $/€100 per paid game round, playable on most devices.
Queen of Gods is played on a 5-reel, 3-row game matrix, providing 10 fixed paylines to hit winning combinations of three or more of a kind across. In the base game, eight normal pays appear - four J-A lows and four character premiums, whereas in free spins, all four of the low pays are removed from the grid. Landing five matching symbols on a payline is worth a payout of 2-5x the bet for the royals or 10-20x the stake for premium symbols. Wilds can land on reels 2, 3, or 4 and are used to help complete winning lines by substituting for anything except scatter symbols.
Queen of Gods: Slot Features
>>
Despite the 'of' in the title, Queen of Gods' features are not in any way related to Book of Ra or its many offshoots. There is a chance on any base game spin that wild symbols land fully stacked on reels 2, 3, or 4, but no expanding pay symbols are used in the bonus round or anything like that. There are free spins, though, triggered every 120 base game spins on average when 3 scatter symbols land in view. As well as winning 5x the bet, players get to pick one of four choices as to how the bonus round plays out:
- 15 free spins where wilds do not have a multiplier.
- 11 free spins where wilds have an x2 multiplier.
- 8 free spins where wilds have an x3 multipair.
- A mystery option which awards 8, 11, or 15 free spins, with no multiplier, x2 multiplier, or an x3 multiplier.
While free spins are in operation, only the four premium symbols are present on the reels. Also worth mentioning is that the feature cannot be retriggered.

Queen of Gods: Slot Verdict
Unless you're really set on honouring Cleopatra in yet another online slot, there won't be too many reasons to have a go with Queen of Gods. The features feel watered down, while the visuals are all run of the mill stuff. Not to say, Pragmatic Play has made an ugly game, far from it, yet all the antiquities that have made their way into Queen of Gods have been used many times before, often by Pragmatic themselves. The golden quality to the light in Queen of Gods gives it a glow some users may be dazzled by, but it's heavy on stock imagery, stock symbols, and stock tune, making the genericism so thick it's hard to battle through to find the hidden gems, if any.
Unfortunately, there aren't too many treasures here worth expending a lot of time to uncover. Queen of Gods' key purpose seems to be drip-feeding players a steady stream of free spin triggers. So much so, Queen of Gods proved to be the antithesis of a grind. As an example, the bonus round triggered several times in the first 200 test spins, on four or five occasions from memory, so the game's limitations could be quickly identified. The most glaring was the low winning potential. To cap off an uninteresting game is an uninteresting win cap of 1,839x the bet. Reach this level in free spins, and the round immediately stops and any free spins remaining are lost. On the bright side, the max win frequency is 1 in 4,267,425, low, relatively speaking.
Furthering the positive note, there are sure to be players keen to experience Queen of Gods' lightweight Egyptian gaming. Test runs weren't demanding, the visuals were easy on the eye if unmemorable, and free spins hit often enough to keep things ticking over. It's not a game that ticks very far, though, and lacked much to prompt a repeat performance.
