Graphically mediocre, you get the impression the designers were either trying to be charmingly retro, or they didn't really put much effort in at all. Amazing Money Machine might have been impressive fifteen years ago, what with all of the animations, etc., but now, it just comes across as dated. First impressions count, and Amazing Money Machine does not make a great one.
Still, it's not bad enough to damage your eyesight, so for players besotted with anything Steampunk, the game might entice. A wide array of bets are certainly available, ranging from 20 p/c to $/€200 per spin – on any device. Rated 4 lightning bolts out of 5, Amazing Money Machine is highly volatile; at the same time, wins hit often, and features are frequent as well. The issue is that outside the two largest jackpots, the game doesn't tend to produce much monetary reward.
Landing 3 to 5 matching symbols along a payline constitute a winner, a task made easier by an abundance of wild symbols. Wilds appear in the form of diamonds to substitute all symbols except money symbols or bonus tiles. Pay symbols come in 11 forms; 5 are 10-A royals, while the premium picture symbols are glasses, ray guns, rockets, flying ships, an explorer who looks like Kurt Russel in the Christmas Chronicles, and a lady character. Landing a five-of-a-kind win from the premiums is worth a payout of 2.5 to 10 times the stake.
Jackpots are the big money draw, while minor extras include Money Respins and the Amazing Money Machine feature. The Amazing Machine can be found to the left of the reels. Randomly in the base game, the machine throws arbitrary symbols onto the reels. These could be wild money symbols, wilds, or instant jackpot symbols. During respins, it can also throw jackpot money symbols.
There are 4 types of money symbols, and 5 or more of them in view trigger the Money Respin round. The four types are -
The number of respins is equal to the number of triggering money symbols, and if 3 of them cover the middle reel, the game grid expands to either 5x4 or 5x5 in size. During respins, regular symbols fade from the reels, so only Money symbols or blank spaces appear on respins. New Money Symbols are locked in place and add one extra respin. The round ends when respins run to zero or all positions are filled. Then, Money Symbol values are collected and paid.
Entering the Jackpot feature occurs when 3 bonus symbols land in the base game, 3 jackpot symbols are collected during respins, or an instant jackpot symbol is thrown from the Amazing Machine. In the Jackpot feature, players pick coins until 3 of the same jackpot is revealed. This could be the Mini, Maxi, Major, or Grand Jackpot for 25, 50, 500, or 5,000 times the stake.
After a disappointing first glance, Amazing Money Machine never really managed to pull it back and win much affection. Steampunk is meant to be one of those fun genres where your imagination is free to wander through a fantastical world full of enchantment. Amazing Money Machine has the bare minimum of that, coming across as a project the team felt obliged to complete rather than one they were emotionally vested in.
Some bits try to make use of the theme, such as the quirky inventor premium tile or the Amazing Money Machine belching symbols onto the grid, but on the whole, it all feels half-hearted. After testing, Amazing Money Machine came across as a mediocre release with little to nothing to get excited about. From low-quality graphics to average yesteryear features, it is hard to find much to positively report back on. It's as if the studio did the bare minimum to complete a project and no more.
The game's draw is its Grand Jackpot worth 5,000x – the Major isn't bad either. If you don't manage to win one of the larger jackpots, then the chances aren't great you'll win big at all. Full grids of premium symbols would payout 100x the bet (at 5x3 size), while almost full screens of money symbols were usually worth around 20 to 30 times the bet. The occasional Money Respin win did help keep the balance buoyant, but after a while of circling around on the spot going nowhere, the novelty quickly wore off.
It all means if you're not a hardcore Steampunk fan or completely enraptured by the Money Respin/Jackpot pick me bonus, there's little about the Amazing Money Machine to spark any interest.
